Our Story
The men and women of our EMS agencies are trained, professional volunteers who respond to many emergency calls per year, performing lifesaving medical intervention to the ill and injured, and transporting them to the hospital.

Who Can Volunteer
  • Men, women, and teens (over the age of 14) are invited to join
  • You don’t need any prior EMS or medical experience
  • Everyone is asked to contribute in whatever way they can
  • Everyone can offer a valuable contribution
 
Basic Expectations for Volunteers
  • Be available and ready to respond when asked to cover a shift at your local agency
  • Certified first responders and Basic EMTs are expected to provide support to people who are injured or critically ill
  • Assess the medical needs of the sick and injured and provide immediate care, giving priority to those most seriously in need of help
  • Provide whatever medical assistance is needed as long as it’s within the scope of your training
  • Transport patients to a medical facility, if necessary
  • Perform your duties in a calm, reassuring and efficient manner.

Training
EMT-Basic and CFR training is offered at various tech college campuses and at off-campus locations.
​As a graduate you will be able to:
  • Provide efficient and immediate care to critically ill and injured patients
  • Make decision under stress
  • Work quickly in situations requiring accuracy
  • Question patients to obtain medical and personal history
  • Deal with adverse social situations including on site of an emergency
  • Graduates of program complete the National Registry of Emergency Technicians Exam to become licensed.
